Swim Lessons – REGISTER HERE OR CALL 781-631-8330.

Parent and Tot Swim This is the exciting first dip into the pool for children and we make it special for everyone involved! Parents bring their children (6 months to 3 years) into the pool for a fun lesson with one of our wonderful instructors. Sing songs, play in the water and more. Swim diapers are required.

 

Starfish: Level 1 Your children will learn to love the water while being taught basic swimming skills. Our Starfish class is a safe and positive introduction to swimming. Skills such as blowing bubbles, supported and independent movements, floating and kick are introduced.

 

Seahorse: Level 2 Ready for the next level! Children learn important skills such as beginner front and back crawl, floating, glides (prone and supine), seated dives and treading water.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Level 1 or children must be able to easily enter the water and be comfortable participating in small groups.

 

Combo Starfish and Seahorse This convenient option is for families who want a Level 1 or Level 2 class, but can’t make the scheduled times. Children learn skills from Starfish and Seahorse classes, including submerging their faces, floating and elementary front crawl.

 

Barracuda: Level 3 They’re on the move! Students improve their front and back crawl by learning rotary breathing and body rotation. Breast stroke, underwater swimming, dolphin kick and diving will be introduced. Prerequisites: Successful completion of Level 2 or ability to float and swim independently on front and back for at least 10 yards.

 

Dolphin: Level 4 Students improve their stroke technique and endurance in front and back crawl, breast stroke, elementary back stroke and treading. They’ll refine their diving skills, too. Prerequisites: Successful completion of Level 3 or basic front crawl and back crawl for 15 yards. Children must be comfortable in deep water.

 

Sharks: Level 5 Students improve their stroke technique and endurance in front and back crawl, breast stroke, elementary back stroke and treading. They’ll refine their diving skills, too. Prerequisites: Successful completion of Level 3 or basic front crawl and back crawl for 15 yards. Children must be comfortable in deep water.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Level 4 or ability to easily swim the entire length of pool, exhibit good technique in front and back crawl and swim underwater 10 yards.

 

Advanced Swim: Level 6 Getting ready for Swim Team! These students take on all strokes at longer distances, increasing strength and endurance.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Level 5 and the ability to comfortably swim 50 yards of front and back crawl and breast stroke.

 

Adaptive Swimming The JCC offers an Adaptive Swimming Program for all special needs children and young adults, ages 8 years and older, who want to improve their swimming and/or train to compete in the 2013 Swimming Special Olympics.

NEW! Adaptive Swim & Gym This is a wonderful NEW program for children ages 8 to young adult with special needs who would benefit from small student-instructor ratios. They’ll enjoy 40-minutes of gym time and 40 minutes of swim help to develop gross motor skills, team work and a positive self-image in a non-competitive environment. The class will be divided by age with children ages 8-14 using the gym first then moving to the pool. Teens and young adults ages 15 to young adults will swim first then move to the gym. The program will be run with the support from partner organization.

*Participants must be able to change into their bathing suits on their own or have the assistance of a parent or guardian.

 

Create a Swim Class Our classes fill quickly and we want to make sure your children have the chance to learn to swim! If you have at least three participants of a similar level, we will find you an instructor and place in the pool for lessons. These lessons are $11 per participant for JCC members and $13 per participant for non-members. Springboard Diving Learn the basics of Springboard Diving, including proper technique and diving safety in a fun environment.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 3 or basic front crawl and back crawl for 15 yards. Children must be comfortable in deep water, and have the ability to demonstrate a standing dive from the side of the pool.

 

Private Swim Lessons Get the most out of your time in the pool! Our private lessons with expert instructors are perfect for the first-time swimmer, the nervous swimmer or for specialized instruction. All ages and abilities welcome.

 

Semi-private Lesson

Semi-private lessons are similar to the private lesson, with personalized instruction, for two swimmers of similar levels. Special pricing for siblings.

Masters Swimming Workout Group Tired of swimming on your own? Come swim and work out with a group.  Lanes reserved and sets provided. FREE for JCC members.

 

Adult Swim Clinic Get special attention in the pool! This clinic is a great way to learn the basics of swimming, improve your technique and train for swim competitions and the JCC Triathlon! Beginners welcome!

 

Lifeguard Certification Course: Get your teens ready for a great summer job. Send them to our popular Lifeguard course over April vacation.

Prerequisites: Swim 300 yards without stopping Freestyle/Breaststroke, tread water for two minutes without hands, retrieve a brick from the bottom of the pool 7-10 ft. and deliver it to the shallow-end of the pool in 1:40.
