“Everyone who cares about the future of the Jewish community of the North Shore, should take a membership in the JCC now! Nothing will contribute sooner to the JCC’s survival more assuredly than this simple act.” – Report of the Jewish Community Task Force, August 2009
In March of 2009, our JCC was in dire straits and facing having to close its doors by the end of April. The good news for all of us in the community is that the JCC is still here. The JCC is under new management and a heightened sense of renewal and community permeate throughout. Changes are being made every single day to improve our physical plant, customer service and our programmatic offerings.
As we welcome the New Year of 5770, we are asking you to show your support of our community and the JCC by simply joining the JCC if you are not already a member and, if you are able, by contributing to the JCC Annual Campaign.
As the Jewish Community Task Force reported, “we are certain of one thing – time is short, several of our institutions (including the JCC) are at the tipping point, and how the community acts or fails to act at this stage will have repercussions for Jewish life on the North Shore for generations to come.”
Let the sounds of the shofar be our collective call to action and let us act to ensure that our community will have a vibrant JCC now and for the next generation and beyond.
L’shana tovah tikatevu. Best wishes for a happy and healthy New Year!
