Simchah Specialty Camps


Camp Simchah is a special place for children in grades pre-K-8./ Campers are learning and having fun while participating in a wide range of activities to keep them busy the minute they get off the bus until they board the bus in the afternoon. Some of these activities include: Instructional and Free Swims – Athletics (including Hockey, Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Newcomb, Football, Softball, Basketball, Kickball) – Drama –/Music – Arts and Crafts – Ceramics – Israeli Culture – Outdoor Adventure (including a low elements ropes course) – Programs that highlight Jewish tradition and customs (including Judaics, and Shabbat celebrations).

In addition, campers enjoy special events such as Bunk Dance Contest, Israel Day, Purim Carnival Day, Talent Show, Color War/Maccabi Games, Theme Days, Simchah Goes to Hollywood, and Special Performers.

During the summer, Camp Simchah will host two Family Nights./ This is a great opportunity for parents to eat dinner at camp with their child(ren) and to experience a little bit of camp for themselves./ Parents will also be informed of camp happenings during the summer through our weekly newsletter.

Camp Simchah Yeladim
(age 4 - entering 2nd Grade)

Campers may sign up for 3, 4, or 5 days per week. In addition, Yeladim campers may elect to stay for a full day, or to have their camp day end at 1:45!

Morning transportation will be provided (see registration form for transportation locations and times). For campers leaving at 1:45, there is a minimum daily enrollment required for afternoon transportation./
Camp Simchah Bogrim (Grades 3-8)

Three days a week, Bogrim campers will choose a special elective at flagpole that will take place that day./ Some examples of electives are: sports, dance, drama games, pool activities, yearbook, canoeing, art and much more./ This is an opportunity for counselors to teach one of their own hobbies, campers from different bunks to interact, and for campers to make their own choice of what they would like to do that day. In addition to electives, Bogrim Campers have overnights, camping trips, and field trips during the summer.

Seventh & Eighth Grade ROAD RULES & BASE CAMP

Teens entering 7th or 8th grade in September, 2008 will participate in our on-site/off-site camp. Campers will enjoy “Base Camp” activities 3 days a week and hit the road 2 days a week. Trips may include: Water Country, Fenway Park Tour, canoeing and hiking, Canobie Lake Park, Museum of Science, beaches and more! Campers will have at least two overnights at camp.

CIT
Future leaders start at Camp Simchah with the Counselor In Training Program.

The CIT Program provides an opportunity for teens entering 9th and 10th grade to develop skills that will help them progress toward a counselor position. Program includes: Structured skill training in a fun camp environment, Counselor/CIT Mentoring Program, Overnight and Day Trips (Transportation, hospitality, and meals included in the program fee). Over the course of the summer, each CIT has the opportunity to work closely with specialists, counselors, and campers in settings that provide valuable hands-on experience.
Requirements for entrance into the CIT Program include:
 • 8 week commitment for teens entering 10th grade.
 • Minimum, first four week or last four weeks commitment for teens entering 9th grade.
 • Must be entering 9th or 10th grade in 9/2008.
 • Registration form must be received by 3/31/2008.
 • Candidates must be interviewed and accepted into the program.
 • A letter by the candidate stating why he/she desires to participate.
 • Two letters of recommendation from non-family members.



Camp Simchah One Week Specialties

The JCCNS is dedicated to offering the best of camping for campers on the North Shore!/ Camp Simchah will be offering one week specialty camps located at Camp Simchah! Campers will participate in specialty camps in the morning and Camp Simchah in the afternoon. Transporatation is provided. Please see registration form.

Simchah Drama Camp
Dates:  July 14 - July 18
Time:  9:00am - 12:00pm Drama Camp

Grades:  3-8
Cost:  $330 Members and $380 Community

Join us for a week of theater arts games, improvisation and performance. Campers will work on character development, script reading, ensemble work and stage techniques. They will wrap up the week with a performance applying the skills they explored./ While having fun, students will meet new friends, learn different ways to communicate, work on their acting skills, and build confidence. During the afternoon, campers will enjoy the beautiful grounds and facilities of Camp Simchah!

Simchah Soccer Camp
Dates:  July 21 - July 25
Time:  9:00am - 12:00pm Drama Camp

Cost:  $330 Members and $380 Community

Thrills, Skills and Drills
    This camp will focus on soccer fundamentals and an emphasis on foot skills and the basic soccer concept./ Campers will be divided into groups and will learn about proper warm up, flexibility and cool down for soccer./ During the afternoon, campers will enjoy the beautiful grounds and facilities of Camp Simchah!

Simchah BasketBall Camp
Dates:  August 4 - August 8

Cost:  $330 Members and $380 Community

    Wayne Bartolucci will be the Camp Simchah Basketball Camp Director. Wayne has over 15 years experience coaching basketball and working at basketball camps. He will work with the campers to improve their basketball skills and have fun at the same time!  During the afternoon, campers will enjoy the beautiful grounds and facilities of Camp Simchah.  Wayne is currently a Physical Education Teacher, Basketball and Baseball Coach.

Simchah Travel– Week 9
August 18 – August 22

In travel camp, campers will go on field trips throughout the week and still have time to enjoy Simchah favorites such as athletics, swimming, arts and crafts and more.

Transportation is provided to and from the Marblehead and Peabody JCC’s. Campers can sign up by the week or for individual days. See registration pages for details.
