JCC Preschool in Marblehead
Posted on 20. May, 2011 by Leigh Blander in Early Childhood, Infant-5
The philosophy of our JCC Preschool is developmentally oriented. We believe that children learn best by actively exploring their environment. The developmental approach to early childhood learning focuses on the child’s skill level as they enter our program. We strive to enhance social, motor, language, cognitive and self-help skills. Preschool is offered 3, 4 or 5 days a week and our Preschool Plus Program is available from 7:30–9 and 12–6.
Our program welcomes children 2 years, 9 months to 5 years of age.
WE BELIEVE…
- In treating children as individuals.
- That the foundation of learning is self esteem and trust in others.
- That friendship and fun enhance a learning environment.
- That you, as parents, are your child’s first and most important teachers.
Masoret Program
In addition to our developmentally appropriate 4 -5 year old curriculum, the Masoret Program enjoys a special emphasis on the introduction of the Hebrew language and vocabulary through theme based activities. Through the use of song, dance and repetition, Hebrew starts to become second nature.
Transition Program
The Transition Class is designed for the oldest 4 year olds that either miss the Kindergarten cut off (5 by September 1st) or a child who could use one more year in a Pre-Kindergarten readiness classroom. The children in this class participate in work groups, exposing them to concepts and activities that will be introduced in kindergarten.
Preschool Enrichment Programs
The JCC also offers wonderful Preschool Enrichment Programs (PEPs) from 12-2pm every afternoon. Your children’s teaches will lead them to classes including Swimming, Art, Sports Rangers, Lego Club, Dance, Jedi Jim and so much more!
Preschool Plus
By definition, Preschool Plus provides childcare for children before (7:30-9:00) and after (12:00-6:00) the regular Preschool hours. In reality, this wonderful program allows children to unite with others the same age to create long lasting friendships. The afternoon begins with a relaxing lunch with their friend – a time to wind down after a busy morning and chat about the days accomplishments. The young preschoolers will then take a nap/rest on mats, having their back’s rubbed listening to quiet music. Once rest time is over, snack is served. We also make time to either play outside or in the gym. Age appropriate activities are offered at various stations allowing them to explore and discover areas such as sand, art, writing and math tables. We also bring out games and puzzles to challenge anyone who wants. Playground or gym time is always a favorite part of the afternoon. Whether you need a full day from 7:30-6pm or just a few longer days of fun, we have an option for you.
