Register Now for JCC Basketball League Fall Season

Posted on 11. Aug, 2010 by in News

It’s time to register for the JCC Basketball League’s fall season!  We had a great summer, with local hoop star Allie Beaulieu making headlines.

Beaulieu, 19, of Swampscott was the only woman in the 120-player league!

With three older brothers, Allie has been playing basketball with boys since she was old enough to dribble. She’s been playing at the JCC in Marblehead since 2nd grade!

At 5’ 10”, Beaulieu led the Swampscott High varsity team to the state championship in 2009.  She now plays varsity at Bates College in Maine.

“I love picking up new moves from different players,” Beaulieu said. “The part of the game I enjoy the most is improving my game, taking knowledge from others to increase my skill level and basketball IQ.”

She credits determination and hard work for her success. “I have a strong work ethic,” she added.

The Jewish Community Center of the North Shore offers a year-round basketball league with a new fall session tipping off in September.  Most players are 25-55 years old.  “We’re the fastest growing league on the North Shore,” said director Kevin Gilligan.
